Alumni Reunion Weekend 2015

Buffalo State alumni who frequented the campus as students in the 1940s, 1950s, and 1960s have the opportunity to reconnect with classmates and friends July 17–19 during Reunion Weekend.

This year, Buffalo State is celebrating the classes of 1955 and 1965, along with those who graduated at least 50 years ago. Reunion Weekend attracts a large number of alumni—some returning to campus for the first time since graduation.

"Reunion Weekend gives alumni the chance to not only reminisce with classmates about their time at 'State' but also to reconnect with the campus," said Katelyn Brickhouse, alumni events coordinator.

Reunion participants will reunite at the lineup of fun activities scheduled throughout the weekend. A welcome home reception Friday evening at the Campbell Student Union Technology Building lobby will include tours highlighting the many improvements and renovations to campus.

"When many of these alumni were students, the campus was composed of only four buildings," said Brickhouse. "Much has changed since then, of course. Reunion attendees really enjoy learning about the new buildings, revisiting the spots they remember, and finding out about the new majors and opportunities that current students enjoy."

Members of the Class of 1955 will have lunch together Saturday at Gigi’s Cucina Povera (981 Kenmore Ave). Meanwhile, members of the Class of 1965 can join their classmates for a 50th reunion reception and dinner Saturday evening at the renovated Campbell Student Union Social Hall Buffalo Club (388 Delaware Ave.).

On Sunday afternoon, those who have reached or passed the 50-year mark since graduation can reminisce with others during the 50-Plus Club Reunion Luncheon at the Foundry Hotel and Banquets (1738 Elmwood Ave.).

Reunion events for alumni of the Communication Department and former members of the Bengals Football Team will also be held.

Response for this year’s reunion has been tremendous, according to Brickhouse. Approximately 50 alumni are slated to attend the opening reception, and 100 are expected for the 50-Plus Club luncheon. Alumni are traveling from as far as Florida and Washington state, while a number of alumni from Western and Downstate New York will be represented.
