Art Conservation Open House: November 5
Buffalo State's Art Conservation Department invites the community to a firsthand look at the study, preservation, and restoration of art and cultural material, Friday, November 5, from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. in Rockwell Hall.
Visitors will have the opportunity to meet current students, view works of art undergoing conservation treatment, and learn more about Buffalo State's art conservation graduate program—one of the top three of its kind in North America.
This event provides a rare opportunity to observe the materials, techniques, and equipment used to examine, restore, and preserve works of art and artifacts of various cultures. Objects in different stages of conservation treatment will be on display.
Buffalo State's art conservation program prepares students for careers as professional conservators in museums, libraries, and other public institutions, as well as in private practice. Alumni can be found in high-ranking positions at such leading art institutions as the Library of Congress, the National Gallery of Art, and the Guggenheim Museum, to name just a few.
