Bengals' Three-game Win Streak Snapped by Geneseo
Buffalo State fell to 8-2 overall and 3-2 in the SUNYAC with an 18-2 loss at Geneseo yesterday. The Blue Knights improved to 9-2 overall and 5-1 in the conference.
Geneseo took a two-goal lead in the first nine minutes of the game before Buffalo State's Megan Powers (Pearl River/Pearl River) scored an unassisted goal to cut the lead to one. Geneseo's offense proved to be too much for the Bengals as the Blue Knights went on to score eight straight goals to make the score at the half 10-1.
Buffalo State midfielder Annie Tallchief (Perrysburg/Lakeshore) tallied the Bengals' lone second half goal 41 seconds into the frame. Junior Leslie Perreault (Johnson City/Maine Endwell) assisted on Tallchief's goal. Buffalo State was out-shot 41-17 as freshman goaltender Katie Fels (Williamsville/Williamsville East) had a career-high 13 saves.
The Bengals are back in action on Friday when they travel to take on SUNYAC rival Cortland for a 4:00 p.m. game.
