Bengals Triumph in ECAC Southwest Bowl

Despite not being able to hold regular practice due to weather conditions, the Bengals claimed a 59-36 victory over host Waynesburg in the ECAC Southwest Bowl held Saturday, November 22.

"We couldn’t practice outside all week," head football coach Jerry Boyes told the Observer-Reporter. "We have some players who live in the snowbelt and they couldn’t get back to campus until Thursday. We had one coach who didn’t make it back until Friday."

Still, the team not only managed a convincing win, but also broke some longstanding records. In his final game as a Bengal, wide receiver Mike Doherty set a school record with 15 catches and scored a pair of touchdowns. The Bengals improved to 4-0 all-time in ECAC Bowls in their first postseason appearance since 2000 and recorded their first eight-win season since 1998.
