Brazilian Percussion Ensemble Performance
The acclaimed Sao Paulo State University Percussion Ensemble (Grupo PIAP) performs on February 6 at 7:30 p.m. in a free concert hosted by the Buffalo State Music Department in the Performing Arts Center at Rockwell Hall.
During its 32-year history, the group has become a permanent fixture of the Brazilian music scene, including concerts, recordings, and radio and television appearances. Buffalo-born John Boudler founded and directs the group of Sao Paulo State University percussion students. He moved from the United States to Brazil in 1978. During their 2010 North America tour, including Buffalo, the ensemble will perform a varied program of Brazilian folk, pop, and new music.
