Brooks, Moseley Surpass 1,000 Points; Women's Basketball Loses at Cortland
CORTLAND, NY—Seniors Jacey Brooks (Machias/Franklinville) and Darnika Moseley (Liverpool/Liverpool) each surpassed the 1,000 career points mark, but it was not enough as Buffalo State (3-8/0-3) dropped a 76-57 decision in a SUNYAC game at Cortland (10-1/3-0) tonight.
Brooks led the Bengals with 15 points, bringing her career total to 1,010. Her 1,000th point came on a lay-up midway through opening half. Moseley had 11 points, giving her 1,001 for her career thus far. She reached the milestone as the free-throw line late in the contest. Brooks and Moseley became the ninth and 10th players, respectively, to reach the 1,000-point plateau.
Buffalo State led by as many as five points with a 21-16 advantage midway through the opening half, but the Red Dragons closed the opening stanza with a 31-27 lead. Cortland used an extended 18-6 run late in the final period to put the game out of reach. Buffalo State shot just 33-percent from the field and 11-percent from 3-point range for the game.
The Bengals will host SUNYIT on Friday at 6 p.m.
