Buffalo State announced the addition of Victor, NY native and former Division I goalie Meaghan Guckian to its women’s hockey coaching staff.

Guckian graduated cum laude with a degree in psychology from St. Lawrence University in May, after completing her standout four-year career as a goalie. A member of four NCAA Tournament teams and three NCAA Frozen Four squads, she played in 107 career games, earning a record of 74-25-8 with 17 shutouts. She also registered a .916 save percentage and a 2.03 goals against average.

In addition to being selected to the ECAC All-Rookie Team in 2005, Guckian competed in the NCAA Frozen Four Skills Competition in 2008. She also participated in the United States Development Camp for four years and played in the Empire State Games five times.

A former instructor with the Elite Hockey Camp at Dartmouth College, Guckian will take the place on the staff vacated by Will Hamele. Hamele leaves his post after two seasons to conclude work on his master’s degree and pursue other endeavors in hockey including refereeing with the ECAC.
