Buffalo State Bounces Oswego in Women's Basketball, 63-48
BUFFALO, NY-Buffalo State (18-8) ended Oswego's (12-13) season tonight with a 63-48 victory in the first round of the SUNYAC playoffs at the Sports Arena.
The Bengals used a 21-6 run in the latter stages of the first half to take a 33-20 lead by halftime, and did not allow the Lakers to close the gap. Monique Hanks (Liverpool) led Buffalo State with a career-high 22 points and eight steals. Dionne Turnage (Buffalo Traditional) added 15 points, nine rebounds and six steals, and Abby Kochan (West Canada) chipped in seven points and 10 rebounds.
Sally Shuster (Sacred Heart) led the Lakers with 19 points including hitting 5-of-8 three-point attempts. Lauren Vesnaver (St. Francis Prep) chipped in 10 points for Oswego.
Buffalo State advances to the SUNYAC Final Four this weekend at the Utica War Memorial this weekend. The Bengals will face #3 Brockport on Friday at 1 p.m.
