A variety of events will take place on campus in observance and celebration of Black History Month.

On Wednesday, February 5, the African and African American studies program presents “Mixing Histories: Contemporary Art and Re-Imaging Slavery” at the Burchfield Penney Art Center at Buffalo State. Cheryl Finley, associate professor and director of visual studies at Cornell University, will present the talk from 3:00 to 4:30 p.m. in the Peter and Elizabeth C. Tower Auditorium. A reception will follow.

The Caribbean Student Organization and the Caribbean, Latino, African American, and Pan-African Alliance have planned a week-long observation, One Love Week, that began Saturday, February 1. In honor of the thirtieth anniversary of recording artist Bob Marley’s renowned Legend album, each day’s program is inspired by one of the tracks of the album. “We will be exploring women’s issues from a global perspective while paying tribute to Bob Marley,” said LaTia Sinclair, complex director for Residence Life and adviser of the Caribbean Student Organization.
