Buffalo State College Bengala: April 13

Buffalo State’s 22nd annual Foundation Scholarship Gala—now known as the “Bengala”—will be held on Saturday, April 13, in the Campbell Student Union Social Hall.

Proceeds from the event fund scholarships for students enrolled in the college’s honors programs. Since the fundraiser began in 1998, the gala has helped raise approximately $4 million in scholarship funds.

This year’s gala features an “Under the Big Top” vintage circus theme. Festivities begin at 6:00 p.m. with cocktails, followed by a multi-course dinner at 7:00 p.m.

The evening will also shine a special spotlight on students and programs from across campus, along with a performance by current Buffalo State students. The always-popular live auction will include experiences with Buffalo State programs, a Peter Fowler painting; “Heart of the Bengal” 120-karat citrine necklace; Buffalo Sabres suite tickets; Buffalo Bills suite tickets; Cher concert suite tickets; and the “Ten x $200” set of $200 gift certificates to ten of Buffalo’s finest restaurants.

This year’s gala chairs are Buffalo State College Foundation board member Jonathan Amoia and his wife, Rachel. Presenting sponsors are M&T Bank and Merchants Insurance Group.

Buffalo State’s honors programs, including the Muriel A. Howard Honors Program, are academically challenging opportunities for gifted and intellectually committed undergraduate students. Honors students engage in special seminars and receive individual attention from dedicated, highly qualified faculty members. Student scholars enjoy an exhilarating academic journey of shared intellectual and creative pursuits, scholarship, and service learning, both in and outside of the classroom.

Individual tickets for the Gala are $250 and may still be purchased online at giving.buffalostate.edu/gala. Raffle tickets for the Bintelli Breeze 50 scooter, festooned with Bengals decorations, are also available: $25 for one chance, $50 for three.
