Buffalo State College Council Chairman Linda Dobmeier, ’71, will receive the Dr. Bernard L. Martin Award from Canisius College during its 51st annual Business Awards Dinner on Tuesday, October 15, at Salvatore’s Italian Gardens. The award recognizes a distinguished graduate of Canisius’s graduate business programs who has excelled professionally and provided significant service to the community. Dobmeier received her M.B.A. from Canisius in 1983.
Dobmeier, who has chaired the Buffalo State College Council since 2015, is vice president of operations for Dobmeier Janitor Supply Inc. in Buffalo, which she joined in 1982 and continues to manage today. After earning her B.S. in elementary education from Buffalo State, she spent 11 years teaching elementary education in the Grand Island Central School District. She also holds a master of education from the University at Buffalo.
Dobmeier, who received the Buffalo State College Distinguished Alumnus Award in 2010 and the President's Distinguished Service Award in 2012, has also been a major force on the Buffalo State College Foundation Board of Directors, where she served as a member of the board, a member of the Executive Committee, and chairman of the Nominating Committee. She was elected chairman of the foundation in 2007. She has also served on the board of the Burchfield Penney Art Center at Buffalo State, is a member of the Peterson Society (Buffalo State’s planned giving society), and has generously supported Buffalo State’s annual Bengala Scholarship Gala and the annual Golf and Tennis Scholarship Classic. From 2011 to 2015, she also co-chaired Buffalo State's Transforming Lives campaign, the first comprehensive fundraising campaign in the college's history.
