Buffalo State College's Center for Excellence in Urban and Rural Education is sponsoring "Be A Hero! Be A Teacher," a teacher recruitment fair, on Nov. 12 at 12:15 p.m. in Bulger Communication Center East 2.

The fair will feature informational sessions with faculty from the Department of Elementary Education and Reading and from Educational Foundations as well as guest speakers including Buffalo State College alumni and others in the field of education who are employed in the Buffalo Public School district. It will focus on subjects lacking teachers in urban and rural schools such as secondary math and science and special education. Students will also learn about employment and internship programs.

The fair is the first in a series of recruitment programs that will promote teaching as a valuable and rewarding career for students.

The Center for Excellence in Urban and Rural Education was created to meet the growing need for good teachers in urban and isolated rural settings and is supported by state and local grants.

This event is free and open to the public.
