The Queen City Football Club of Buffalo advanced to the championship game of the National Premier Soccer League (NPSL) this weekend, before falling to host Southern California Fusion in San Diego, Cal. The Queen City roster featured Buffalo State alumni Matt Romano, Shawn McDonell and Prisco Houndanon, as well as current player and team captain Christian Elizondo.

Queen City FC won the Northeast Division regular season title with a 7-2-1 record and is the first ever soccer team from the Buffalo/Niagara region at any level (men/women, indoor/outdoor) to reach a final in a national league. Queen City was also the first local team since the 1914 Niagara Falls Wanderers to win a match in the prestigious Lamar Hunt US Open Cup when they went to New Hampshire and defeated the New Hampshire Phantoms Future 5-0.

The 2007 Bengals men's soccer team will report to camp on Monday, Aug. 20.
