The International Center for Studies in Creativity continues to live up to its claim to international status. The Universidad Autónoma de Bucaramanga (UNAB) is a private non-profit university in Bucaramanga, Colombia. John Cabra, associate professor of creativity, traveled there in January to present a series of creativity and innovation workshops. His trip was sponsored by the Fulbright Program. The workshops were designed for audiences that included university researchers and UNAB’s Technology Transfer Office. Business leaders from the region also attended.
Cabra, a Fulbright specialist, led two three-day foundational workshops in creativity, using creative problem solving. He also delivered a webinar and additional half-day workshops, which were tailored to different groups. “The overarching goal of the project is to provide creative process support for the Technology Transfer Office,” said Cabra. “Our efforts seek to enable successful creativity, innovation, and entrepreneurship at universities and research institutions.”
Cabra is assisting UNAB as it explores becoming the first designated “creative campus” in Latin America. In addition to his background in creativity, he has an extensive background in providing training programs for organizations including the National Science Foundation and American Airlines.
