Buffalo State Honors 59 Scholar Athletes

Buffalo State held its annual academic luncheon to recognize student-athletes that have earned a minimum cumulative grade point average of 3.0 or higher for at least three semesters at the college today in the Hall of Fame Lobby in the Sports Arena.

Following opening remarks by Athletics Director Jerry Boyes and Vice President for Student Affairs Hal D. Payne, 59 student-athletes were honored, including 17 that have maintained a 3.50 GPA or higher. Men's hockey player Brian Janke was honored as the top-scholar athlete. The junior has maintained a GPA of 3.96 while majoring in physics and electrical engineering.

The athletics department would like to recognize and thank the following invited faculty and staff members that were on hand to support individual student-athletes: Dr. Tim Ecklund (Assoc. VP for Auxiliary Services), Leslie Day (Elementary Education), Dr. Cathy Ansuini (Health and Wellness), Michelle Douglas (Equity and Diversity), Dr. Peter Mercer (Mathematics), Rebecca Dowsey (Hospitality and Tourism), Dr. Kevin Railey (History and Social Studies), Dr. James Maxwell (Business), Sue Baldwin (Health and Wellness) and Mark Tepedino (Mathematics).
