A hallmark of spring, the annual Buffalo State College Scholarship Gala will be held on Saturday, April 21st, 7:00 p.m. at the Connecticut Street Armory.

Alphonso O'Neil-White, President and CEO for BlueCross BlueShield of Western New York and Eunice A. Lewin, Buffalo Public Schools employee, will chair the black tie event.

In the past 10 years, the Foundation Scholarship Gala has generated more than $1 million for Buffalo State's All-College Honors program. The program, which began in 1984 with 45 students and now supports 155 students, requires students to maintain a 3.5 or higher GPA and provides participants with unique opportunities for internships and networking.

"Our All-College Honors program represents the long-standing tradition of academic excellence at Buffalo State College," said college President Muriel A. Howard, who will host the event. "Proceeds from the Gala support many deserving students in this rigorous program. The scholarships enable these talented students to devote more time to their studies, thereby preparing them for future careers. They will not have to divert precious time - working longer hours at part-time jobs for financial reasons."

This year's Gala is a celebration of the college's history. Gourmet food and wine pairings will be provided by the Premier Group and Rich Renaissance Catering. Students from the college's music program will provide entertainment during the cocktail reception which begins at 7 p.m. BlueCross BlueShield of Western New York and M&T Bank are the presenting sponsors.

A live auction will feature all-inclusive travel packages, priceless art and use of a luxury suite for a Sabres game. Tickets for the event are $175 per person. For more information, contact Pamela Voyer at the Buffalo State College Foundation at 878-3725.
