Buffalo State Offers Distance Learning Master's Degree in Adult Education
Buffalo State College, in partnership with Broome-Tioga BOCES, is accepting applications to its master's degree program in adult education.
Upon acceptance into the program, students may begin courses as early as summer 2002. Students can earn a complete 12-course Buffalo State College master's degree in two years by taking two courses each semester, including summers, or elect to take courses over a longer period.
All courses are offered on the Broome-Tioga BOCES campus through live interactive video or via the Internet. Enrollment in limited.
This summer begins the third year of Buffalo State's partnership with Broome-Tioga BOCES. Buffalo State also offers its adult education master's degree on a distance learning basis in Rochester, Jamestown, Long Island, Buffalo and Westchester County. It also offers a completely online program.
The adult education degree granted by Buffalo State College is approved by the New York State Education Department and the State University of New York Central Administration and is consistent with the American Association for the Adult and Continuing Education's Commission of Professors' guidelines for graduate programs in adult education in the United States. It is the only adult education master's degree offered in the SUNY system, and one of only four such programs in New York state.
The adult education master's degree provides a foundation in teaching adults in educational, business, government and community agency settings. It nurtures skills in managing programs and personnel in each of these settings and fosters an understanding of the learning needs and opportunities of adult and non-traditional learners in a constantly changing technological society.
This summer, ADE 600: Adulthood and Development; ADE 624: Internship; and ADE 615: Issues in Adult Education will be taught entirely online from June 10 through Aug. 7.
