Buffalo State Offers Part-Time Online Master's Degree in Adult Education
Buffalo State is accepting applications for an online master's degree in adult education with a specialization in human resource development. The program, which allows students to earn a complete M.S. in adult education over a two-year period, including study during the summer, is available on a part-time basis.
The adult education graduate degree granted by Buffalo State is approved by the New York State Education Department and the State University of New York Central Administration, and is consistent with the American Association for the Adult and Continuing Education's Commission of Professors' guidelines for graduate programs in adult education in the United States. It is the only adult education master's degree offered in the SUNY systems, and one of a very few in the state.
Buffalo State's adult education master's degree provides a foundation in teaching adults in educational, business, government and community agency settings. It nurtures skills in managing programs and personnel in each of these settings and fosters an understanding of the learning needs and opportunities of adult and non-traditional learners in a constantly changing technological society.
The adult education master's degree requires 36 credit hours, with 24 credit hours in required courses and 12 hours in an area of specialization. Human resource development is the most popular area of specialization; others are available, but require more traditional classroom instruction.
