Buffalo State Soccer Tourney Raises Funds for Haiti Relief
Buffalo State’s men’s and women’s soccer programs teamed up to raise $1,246.59 for the American Red Cross relief efforts in Haiti with an “Alumni and Friends” indoor 4-v-4 soccer tournament on Sat., Jan. 30, at the Buffalo State Sports Arena.
The tournament featured seven teams including 49 participants consisting of former Bengal varsity players, campus faculty and staff and local friends of the Buffalo State programs. In addition, several other former players dropped in to show their support and make donations. Buffalo State’s men’s soccer team was also on hand to help facilitate the event.
“The event was a great success,” said Rudy Pompert, Buffalo State head men’s soccer coach and event organizer. “We exceeded expectations with the amount of money we raised through the generosity of our alums and friends. It was a great time and a nice opportunity for our alumni and friends to get together to show former teammates and their families that we are thinking about them in this difficult time.”
