Buffalo State Video Helps Teachers Answer Children
Buffalo State College has produced a video to help Western New York teachers deal with questions their students may have about the tragic events of September 11, 2001.
The video, "Helping Children Understand Tragedy: The Events of September 11, 2001," is available free of charge. Conceived by Dr. Nanci Monaco, a practicing child psychologist and assistant professor of Educational Foundations, the video reviews common reactions children may have to stressful events and gives advice for teachers and parents on how to address children's questions and reactions.
Aimed at K-12 students, the 20-minute video is also appropriate for parents struggling to help their children make sense of the tragedy and feel safe in its wake.
The video may be obtained by calling the Buffalo State College Faculty of Applied Science and Education at (716) 878-4214.
