Buffalo State College chemistry professor Zeki Y. Al-Saigh, Ph.D., was among 30 State University of New York (SUNY) professors honored recently by the SUNY Research Foundation at the annual Recognition Dinner Honoring Research and Scholarship in Albany, N.Y.

The recipients were cited for their talent, dedication and accomplishments in fields such as anthropology, medicine, education, literature, history, engineering, music, environment studies, chemistry and mathematics.

Al-Saigh is a member of the chemistry department at Buffalo State where he is an internationally recognized expert in using gas chromatography to study the physio-chemical properties of polymers, a technique called Inverse Gas Chromatography (IGC). He is the author of more than 50 publications that have appeared in a variety of journals in his discipline.

“The work that the honorees do is a fundamental part of what makes the SUNY System great, and it’s a vital part of what will make SUNY exceptional in the coming decades,” said SUNY Chancellor John R. Ryan, who presented the awards at the dinner. “As a result of their work and the work of their colleagues, research milestones continue to be met and exceeded at SUNY campuses across New York State.”

Al-Saigh, who has been a faculty member at Buffalo State since 2002, was joined at the dinner by Dr. Larry Flood, Buffalo State’s Dean of Faculty of Natural and Social Sciences.
