Buffalo State’s Banach Twins Earn All-SUNYAC Softball Honors

FREDONIA, NY—Buffalo State’s twin duo of Jolene and Jordan Banach (Cheektowaga/ Maryvale) were recognized today as the State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) announced its Softball All-Conference team for the 2008 season.

Jolene, a junior health and wellness major, earned the honor for the third-consecutive season. She played every game at third base this season and finished as the Bengals' leading hitter with a .364 batting average. She also led the team with 15 doubles, the second highest single-season total in school history. Jolene added three homeruns and 31 RBIs.

Jordan, a senior fine arts major, received the distinction for the first time. A rangy shortstop, she started all 43 games and led the Bengals with 10 homeruns and 33 RBIs. Her 10 homers were the second highest single-season total ever by a Bengal, and she finished her career second on the school’s all-time list with 27. Jordan finished this season with a .279 batting average and had eight doubles and two triples.

Buffalo State finished the season 28-15 overall and advanced to the SUNYAC Championship game, before falling 3-1 to Cortland.
