Buffalo State College’s Hospitality and Tourism Department has received a donation of software and training services from Adaco Services LLC of Williamsville, valued at $22,000, to be implemented in Campus House, a student-run on-campus private social club for faculty and staff.

Adaco Starlight, the donated software, enables various departments of a hospitality or tourism business to share information and communicate with each other about different functions, including eProcurement, eInventory control, eRecipes and beverage revenue, enhancement, eReceiving, eAccounting, eStoreroom requisition, eOperational control and analysis and eCorporate management.

Kevin Mulcahy, associate professor and chair, Hospitality and Tourism Department at Buffalo State, said the donation will give students in-depth experience with an application that is widely used in the workplace. Patrick W. Welch, chief operating officer of Adaco, is bringing his 44 years of hospitality experience to the school in providing the training.

“Thanks to this generous gift, Buffalo State students will be even more prepared for hospitality and tourism positions and careers,” Mulcahy said. “Their familiarity with this software will enhance our students into an all the more attractive option for potential employers.”

Buffalo State College’s Tourism and Hospitality program is dedicated to educating and developing enterprising students to become leaders in regional and global hospitality-tourism professions. Recent graduates have been hired as commercial food service and catering managers, international travel consultants, hotel front-desk managers, restaurant managers, executive sous-chefs, sales coordinators and purchasing agents.

Since 1985, Adaco, headquartered in Williamsville, N.Y., has managed all aspects of the hospitality industry’s procurement and operations needs. At hotels in more than 500 properties in 53 countries, Adaco’s procurement software ensures that the right item will be delivered to the right place at the right time at the right price.
