Buffalo State's Williams Named SUNYAC Men's Basketball Player of the Week

Buffalo State men's basketball player James Williams (Brooklyn/William Grady) was named the State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) Men's Basketball Player of the Week after leading the Bengals to a Championship in their Coles Classic over the weekend.

The 6-8 center earned Most Valuable Player honors in the tournament after leading the Bengals to wins over Marietta (138-83) and Nazareth (83-73). Williams averaged 25 points and 7.5 rebounds in the two games and set a school record with seven blocks against Nazareth. He had 28 points and 11 rebounds as Buffalo State set a school record for points in a game with 138. The health and wellness major also scored 11 points and had five blocks in Sunday's loss at Division I University at Buffalo.

Williams and the Bengals will open up the SUNYAC regular season at home against Fredonia on Tuesday, November 29 at 8 p.m.
