Call for Musicians for the Buffalo State College Philharmonia, the City's New Community Orchestra
Community musicians are invited to audition on Aug. 31 for the Buffalo State College Philharmonia, the city’s new community orchestra under the direction of maestro Paul Ferington, who is on the conducting staff of the Buffalo Philharmonic Orchestra and a lecturer at Buffalo State College.
Previous experience in an orchestral ensemble is preferred. For the audition, musicians should select one orchestral excerpt. Rehearsals will be Mondays beginning Sept. 14, from 7 to 9:30 p.m., in Buffalo State College’s Rockwell Hall, rehearsal room 21. To schedule an audition, please e-mail BSCPhil@gmail.com. The Philharmonia inaugural concert will be in November.
The Philharmonia is composed of Buffalo State College faculty, music majors, non-music majors, area professional musicians, local music educators, and community enthusiasts who are committed to performing the symphonic repertoire at a high level. Continuing education units (CEU) are available for educators.
