Homecoming provides a rare opportunity for the entire campus community to come together to celebrate Buffalo State. With fun-filled activities like the miniature shopping cart float, lip sync competition, a pep rally, and the exciting action of Bengals' football, homecoming offers something for everyone.

Homecoming/Family Weekend Pep Rally
The Plaza (between the Campbell Student Union and E. H. Butler Library)
Take part in this traditional event and get psyched for the King and Queen Competition, parade, tailgate parties, Union Bash, football and soccer games. Students will enjoy a free chicken barbecue, sponsored by the United Students Government, the preliminary round Lip Sync competition, finals of the Banner competition, and great giveaways while watching the parade of student-athletes and performances by the Buffalo State cheerleaders.

Athletics Hall of Fame Reception and Induction Ceremony

The Class of 2014 will be officially inducted into the Buffalo State Athletics Hall of Fame during a reception and ceremony. This year, the 1969–1970 Men's Basketball Team, Nicole Sabuda (Softball, '09); John Meade (Swimming, '74); and Dr. Tom Quatroche (Honorary) round out the 2014 class. Hors d'oeuvres and cash bar begin at 6:30 p.m., and the formal induction ceremony commences at approximately 7:30 p.m. For tickets and information, call Tom Koller, associate director, Intercollegiate Athletics, at (716) 878-6514.

Communication Reunion
Cole's Restaurant & Bar (1104 Elmwood Avenue)
Graduates of the Communication Department are invited to catch up with each other at the department’s reunion. Enjoy networking and sharing memories with fellow alumni. Some professors from the department will be at this informal event, too. Registration is only $15 per alumnus/alumna, and includes two drink tickets and light appetizers. Non-alumni guests are welcome to attend, and the cost is $20 per person. Space is limited. Register today.

Shopping Cart Competition

This unique event has grown bigger every year since its inception in 2002. Students, faculty, staff, and alumni are encouraged to register for a shopping cart, courtesy of Wegmans, and turn it into a Homecoming float. Last year, nearly 40 groups, organizations, and individuals took part.

Join President Conway-Turner, our shopping cart floats, students, alumni, and others in our 1.2 mile-long parade route, including Richmond Avenue, before returning to campus and the Sports Arena for our great tailgate party!
10:45 a.m.; Game to start at noon
Homecoming Tailgate Party and Football Game vs. Alfred
Tailgate location: Sports Arena; Game location: Coyer Field
Step inside the Sports Arena and take part in a pre-game tailgate party with Buffalo State alumni, students, staff, and friends. Enjoy a traditional homecoming meal catered by Wegmans, beer provided by Flying Bison (valid photo ID required), and non-alcoholic beverages. After the tailgate, take the short walk over to Coyer Field to see the Bengals play against Alfred at noon. The registration cost is only $5 per person for alumni and students, and $15 for faculty/staff and non-alumni. Tickets for the football game are included in the cost and can be picked up at the tailgate party.
Homecoming / Family Weekend Carnival
Rockwell Road
Students can cap off a tremendous week of activities with this traditional carnival, sponsored by the United Students Government. Enjoy rides, food, music, and more.
Sunday, September 21
Bengal 5K Scholarship Run
Race starts at 10:00 a.m. in front of the Sports Arena
New this year, the Bengal 5K Scholarship Run will take place during Homecoming. The race will start at 10:00 a.m. This year's race will feature a new USATF-certified course on the college's campus, bib timing, awards, a post-race party with food from Lloyd Taco Truck, music, and much more. The first 500 runners will receive t-shirts. Online pre-registration.
