Center for China Studies Turns 10
Over the past ten years, China has emerged as an unrivaled economic superpower. In the decade since its formation, the Center for China Studies has raised awareness of China’s language and culture for countless Buffalo State students.
On Wednesday, October 6, the center will celebrate its 10-year run with a daylong schedule of lectures, exhibits, and special events. Download full schedule (PDF).
“We just want the Buffalo State community to know more about China and make it easy for our students and faculty to do research, business, and culture exchanges with the Chinese people” said Jie Zhang, professor of sociology and director of the Center for China Studies since its inception.
In addition to supporting research on China, coordinating visiting scholars, and organizing lectures for the campus and surrounding community, the center promotes student and faculty exchanges with its sister schools: Capital Normal University, Dalian Medical University, Xi’an International Studies University, and the Beijing Teachers Training Center for Higher Education.
Buffalo State’s focus on China also includes offering courses on China's history, culture, and language and the college’s annual spring China Week celebration, highlighting Chinese business and arts.
