An exhibition and sale of art by students in the ceramic arts program will be at the Buffalo and Erie County Botanical Gardens from November 27 to January 3.

A wide range of ceramics will be showcased amid the flora and fauna, which served as inspiration for many of the pieces. The exhibition is part of the Gardens’ Holiday Festival, including the popular Poinsettia Show. The ceramics program at Buffalo State prepares students to produce work of professional competence in various clay media. Objectives focus on mastery of relevant technical skills, creative expression, along with continual emphasis on design quality in both functional and nonfunctional applications. The ceramics facility at Buffalo State College includes a well-equipped 10,000 square-foot studio space and offers varying firing techniques.

The department is also part of the largest visual arts program (comprised of Art Education, Design, and Fine Arts departments) in the SUNY system.  The ceramics program offers a B.S. and B.F.A. degree in ceramic design.
