Classes Canceled: Thursday, January 31

Buffalo State has canceled all classes and events for Thursday, January 31, due to the winter storm. Normal operations to resume on Friday. Essential service employees are expected to report to work at scheduled times. All other employees are excused but must charge the absence to appropriate leave accruals.*

The college has received notification from the Governor’s Office of Employee Relations that because of inclement weather, state offices would officially close early on Wednesday, January 30, 2019, and remain closed the following day, Thursday, January 31, 2019. Employees are advised as follows:

Wednesday, January 30
Employees who elected to stay home on Wednesday, January 30, must charge leave accruals for the whole day; employees who did report to work on January 30 are not required to charge accruals for the time not worked after 3:30 p.m. Please see information below on how to record these absences on the SUNY Online Time and Attendance System.

Thursday, January 31
The closure on Thursday, January 31, was ordered by the governor; therefore, nonessential employees are not required to charge leave accruals. Please see information below on how to record these absences on the SUNY Online Time and Attendance System.

Note: Essential employees who did not report to work on either day are required to charge their leave accruals.

Recording Absences using the SUNY Online Time and Attendance System
Nonessential employees who did not report to work on Wednesday, January 30, must charge leave accruals. Nonessential employees who did report to work on January 30 and were subject to the directed early departure do not have to charge accruals for time after 3:30 p.m. but should note the time after 3:30 p.m. as a “Non-Chargeable” absence, selecting the reason “Extraordinary/Inclement Weather” from the “Non-Chargeable Type” drop-down menu.

Nonessential employees who did not report to work on Thursday, January 31, must enter a “Non-Chargeable” absence, selecting the reason “Extraordinary/Inclement Weather” from the “Non-Chargeable Type” drop-down menu.
