College Holds Grant Writing Seminar
Buffalo State College's Continuing Education Department will hold Grant Writing 102, a workshop to train the novice grant writer on the methodology, style and approach to use in grant proposals, from 8:30 a.m.- 4:30 p.m., May 25-27, in the Campbell Student Union Assembly Hall on the campus at 1300 Elmwood Ave.
Geared toward community and faith-based organizations, block clubs and private individuals, participants will learn how to write a winning proposal, including tips on customizing proposals to match grant makers’ interests and making appropriate budget requests. Participants will also be afforded the opportunity to search for and find relevant grant opportunities, and are encouraged to bring a proposal in progress or a well-developed idea.

Foundations, by Cynthia Hayes, librarian, Buffalo and Erie County Library; Richard Tobe, vice president of programs, Community Foundation for Greater Buffalo; and Jamir Floyd, community affairs manager, Verizon Foundation
May 26 session highlights include:
Mechanics of Budgets, by Beverly McClean, assistant professor, University at Buffalo; and Mark Schilling, workforce program coordinator; New York State Area Health Education Center
Logic Models/Evaluation, by Mark Schilling, workforce program coordinator; New York State Area Health Education Center
May 27 session highlights include:
War Stories Do and Don’ts by Linda Dubrawsky, associate director, SUNY Research Foundation; and Denise Rivers, director of corporate and foundation relations, Niagara University
The Art of Partnering, by the Rev. Kenyatta Cobb, pastor, Hananiah Lutheran Church; Joyce Wilson-Nixon, executive director, National Inner City Youth Organization; and Vince Clark, grants manager for Congressman Jack Quinn's office
Additionally, all three sessions will include tracks for finding funds and writing grants, and qualify for continuing education credits.
The registration fee for the workshop is $150 for three days. Breakfast and lunch will be provided.
