Creativity Experts Share Ideas at Annual Conference

Approximately 100 professionals who use creativity to problem-solve, to teach, and to explore the world around them will converge on the SUNY Buffalo State campus June 15-17 during the 13th annual Creativity Expert Exchange (CEE) hosted by the International Center for Studies in Creativity (ICSC).

Designed to encourage participants to engage in a deep dialogue about creativity, the event attracts students, faculty, and creativity professionals from all corners of the globe. The event also serves as a homecoming to bring ICSC alumni together, said Gerard Puccio, professor and chair of the Creative Studies Department.

“We are fortunate to have some of the most active and dedicated alumni at Buffalo State, and this special event provides an opportunity for our community to gather together to share experiences and new knowledge with one another,” Puccio said.

This year’s keynote speakers are Bea Parnes, wife of the late Sidney Parnes, a founding ICSC faculty member, and Tudor Rickards, professor emeritus of the Manchester Business School in Manchester, England, and founder of the Creativity and Innovation Management Journal.

Rickards will present the talk “Dissecting Creativity” during the opening ceremony on June 15 at 6:00 p.m. in the Campbell Student Union. Parnes will lead the June 16 panel discussion, “Coming Home to CEE—Celebrating the Legacy,” along with ICSC alumni John S. Frederick, executive director of the Center for Executive Leadership and Change at Daemen College, and Joette Field, a retired Williamsville teacher.

During the two full days of the conference, participants also will engage in workshops and master classes on such topics as “How Creativity and Technology are Changing Everything” and “Act Now: Developing ‘Present Moment’ Problem-Solving Skills Through Improvisation.”
