Data governance impacts every person who uses or generates data, and it’s vital to ensure that data is secure, protected, and used for its intended purpose.

To that end, Buffalo State is hosting the Interdisciplinary Unit in Data Science and Analytics (IUDSA) Conference: Building Bridges Between Academia and Industry on Friday, November 2, from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. at the Jacqueline Vito LoRusso Alumni and Visitor Center, 667 Grant Street, Buffalo.

Topics include data governance and security, privacy expectations, and adapting to data quality challenges. A variety of thought leaders in the field will speak during the conference, including a lunchtime keynote address from Jennifer Beckage, managing director of Beckage PLLC. Beckage will discuss data breaches and their impact from a legal perspective.

The conference is an effort to bring people together from the business world and academia, said Joaquín Carbonara, professor of mathematics.

“Data strategies and governance requires the effort of people from many areas, and the conference is aimed at bringing people together to share challenges and innovative solutions,” he said.

Along with Buffalo State, other sponsors include CUBRC, SAS, and M&T Bank. For more information, call 716-878-6423 or go to datastrategyandgovernance.info/
