Widely respected artist and educator Renee Brown will present a lecture and book signing for her new book, Dreamscapes, on Thursday, December 4, from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. in the Burchfield Penney Art Center's Peter and Elizabeth C. Tower Auditorium. Burchfield Penney executive director Anthony Bannon will lead a discussion with the artist.
Trained at Buffalo State and Rochester Institute of Technology, Brown has exhibited both locally and internationally—including the Castle Estense in Ferrara, Italy.
In his introduction to Dreamscapes, Bannon notes that “Brown's are complex designs. She never leaves a painting too early, knowing that the earth tones, or lavender or rose tints, are not made by singular paint alone, but through multiple applications. She establishes her signature within adjacent hues, revealing the depth within a seemingly modest range. And that is consistent with her meaning, lifting out of earthly matters to locate an aspect of the divine."
This program is free with museum admission.
