Drew Kahn, professor of theater, is participating in the innovative Tedx Buffalo event today, Tuesday, October 11, with a 4:00 p.m. talk, “Tell Your Story—Stop Waiting,”  at Canisius College’s Montante Cultural Center, 2001 Main Street.

Coming off the comprehensive Anne Frank Project that he directed at Buffalo State, Kahn will share how theater, storytelling, and the arts can intervene in and heal the effects of atrocities, and bring us closer to our shared humanity.

Kahn joins authors, teachers, performers, and activists in the daylong event that gives each speaker 18 minutes to present his or her thoughts, as part of Ted, a global platform “devoted to ideas worth sharing.” Tedx is a locally organized event that focuses on individuals and innovation in various cities. Today’s event is streaming live and will be archived on Ted.com.

Other thought-provoking talks in the Buffalo lineup include “Rebooting Education in Our Urban Core,” by educator Stacey Watson, and “Buffalo’s GreenCode: Making Zoning Smart and Sexy,” by urban planning consultant Chuck Banas.
