The 18th annual Faculty and Staff Research and Creativity Fall Forum will be held Thursday, November 2, from 11:00 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. in Houston Gym.

During the two-and-a-half hour forum, diverse examples of research will be on view. More than 130 stations, composed of posters, handouts, and one-on-one discussions, will be included.

“The energy and pride that go into this event are what makes Buffalo State stand out as a comprehensive college,” said Carol DeNysschen, chair and professor of the Health, Nutrition, and Dietetics Department and chair of the Research and Creativity Council. “To get so many examples of research and creativity in one room is truly inspiring and beneficial to all that participate.”

All faculty and staff members were invited to organize an exhibit to present current research, creative activity, or other scholarship. The forum provides an excellent opportunity to network with the Buffalo State community and to identify common scholarly and creative interests.

“Colleagues sharing research and creative accomplishments remind everyone of the richness and diversity of our scholarly endeavors,” said Provost Melanie Perreault. “Outcomes shared in the forum cover a wide spectrum of basic and applied research and show evidence of Buffalo State’s commitment to economic development and engagement with the community.”

The Research and Creativity Council and the Academic Affairs Office, in conjunction with the Sponsored Programs Operations, support the forum. As in past years, the goal is to develop, encourage, and support faculty and staff research and creativity and to make collaborative research endeavors and grants more accessible.

“A significant portion of Buffalo State College faculty focus on applied issues that impact individuals, families, and communities; however, our pursuits vary from the theoretical to the practical and from the analytical to creative artistic expressions,” said President Katherine Conway-Turner. “We stand ready to tackle and explore the complex issues of interest and those facing our communities, as we strive to be a leading institution in exploring topics within our urban environment.”

President Conway-Turner and Provost Perreault will offer welcoming remarks at 12:30 p.m. Light refreshments will be provided for all participants and attendees. The event is open to the campus community. All students are welcome and encouraged to attend.
