Faculty Woodwind Trio: September 29
The Buffalo State Faculty Woodwind Trio, Crystal Reinoso, clarinet; Marlene Witnauer, flute; and Ellen Barnum, bassoon; will perform works by Mozart, Piston, Faillenot, and Villa-Lobos, Wednesday, September 29, at 7:30 p.m. at the Performing Arts Center at Rockwell Hall as part of the Faculty and Friends Concert Series.
Clarinetist Crystal Reinoso currently teaches clarinet, music theory, and woodwind techniques, and directs the music department's woodwind chamber music program. An active freelance clarinetist, Reinoso has toured internationally as a soloist and played professionally with the Buffalo Philharmonic, the New Sousa Band, the Greater Buffalo Opera Company, and the North Carolina Symphony.
Highly regarded as a flutist and master teacher, Buffalo native Marlene Witnauer's style combines the influence of such notable flutists as Joseph Mariano, Sir James Galway, Samuel Baron, Walfrid Kujala, and Bonita Boyd. Witnauer has performed extensively with the Buffalo Philharmonic Orchestra and is a frequent soloist with the Ars Nova Chamber Orchestra.
Bassoonist Ellen Barnum is a founding member of Vento Chiaro, a Boston-based woodwind quintet, which performs across the U.S. and Canada. She maintains an active career in Boston and Buffalo, performing with ensembles including the Buffalo Philharmonic Orchestra and the Buffalo Chamber Players.
Tickets are free to all students, $10 for general admission, and can be purchased online, by phone at (716) 878-3005, or in person at the Rockwell Hall box office (during office hours and two hours prior to performances).
