As part of Buffalo State's Community Service Day, the Friends of Asarese will host a free Family Resource and Fun Day, Saturday, April 24, from 1 to 4 p.m. at the Asarese Youth Center on Rees Street.

The purpose of the event is to provide the local community with useful information, fun activities, and an opportunity to meet their neighbors and service providers. Information on housing, health, nutrition, safety, emergency preparedness, and education will be available.

Children can enjoy talks with members of the Buffalo Fire Department, sports demonstrations by Buffalo State athletes, drumming performances by the Buffalo State West African Drumming Ensemble, and arts and crafts activities. There will also be free children’s books provided by Project Flight, free raffles throughout the event, and free snacks.

The Friends of the Asarese, a Buffalo State College and community group dedicated to improving the youth center, is sponsoring the event. Student and alumni volunteers will assist with activities.
