Fashion Student's Design Wins Holiday Display Contest

Charish Thomas, a senior fashion and textile technology major, recently won a holiday-window-decorating contest held by the Sarah Danielle boutique (295 Main Street). Thomas's display, found on the Washington Street-facing side of downtown's historic Ellicott Square Building, depicts a sleigh pulled by a herd of Buffalo soaring over the city. The contest, which was open to all local college students, called for designs that included the shop's cityscape logo.

"Visual merchandising is exactly what I want to do," said Thomas. "I saw the new logo, and I pretty much based my entire design off of that...I incorporated everything that a Buffalonian is proud of—the Buffaloes around the city, the skyline, and the twinkling lights at nighttime."

Thomas's work is earning a lot of attention, not only from the boutique's shoppers, but also from the media. Wingin’ It! Buffalo Style (WIVB/WNLO-TV) featured Thomas in a segment that aired December 8.
