On a recent economic development tour of the Buffalo-Niagara region, New York's First Lady, Silda Wall Spitzer (center), visited the Buffalo State College campus for an update on the new Burchfield-Penney Art Center. "The First Lady was particularly impressed with the scope of the project and the scale of interior spaces," said Burchfield-Penney director, Ted Pietrzak (left), who gave the tour with Cindy Abbott Letro (right), chairperson of the Burchfield-Penney board of trustees. The Burchfield-Penney enters a new phase of construction as exterior cladding -- cast stone, zinc and black manganese brick - are applied in coming weeks to the 84,000 square-foot museum. A summer '08 opening is planned.
