Freshman Lauren Mruk (Lancaster/Lancaster) was named SUNYAC Softball First Year Player of the Year and joined Nadine Sirianni (Niagara Falls/Niagara Falls), Liz Beiter (N. Tonawanda/N. Tonawanda), Lindsey Matheis (Hamburg/Williamsville South), and Emily Goldyn (Lancaster/Lancaster) on the All-SUNYAC Team.

Mruk, a thirdbaseman, emerged as the Bengals top-hitter as she hit .400 in 20 conference games and finished the season with a .319 overall batting average. She also led the Bengals with five homeruns and a .526 slugging percentage and finished second with 24 RBI.

Sirianni, a junior, earned the honor for the third time. She started all 40 games in centerfield and did not commit a single error on 67 chances. She finished the season with a .309 batting average and led the team with 28 RBI and tied for the team lead with 11 doubles. She also had three homeruns.

Beiter, who received the honor in 2003 as well, led the Bengals' pitching staff. The senior recorded a 9-2 SUNYAC record, and finished the season with a 13-4 overall record with 55 strikeouts and a 1.70 ERA. Beiter finished her career second in Buffalo State history with 35 career wins.

Matheis, a sophomore, also received the honor for the second consecutive season. Regarded as the top-defensive catcher in the conference, she allowed just four stolen bases in 20 conference games, and threw out 10-of-25 runners during the entire season. Matheis also hit .246 with nine extra-base hits, including two homeruns.

Goldyn was selected as a designated player. The freshman finished with a .355 batting average in SUNYAC games and hit .294 overall. She led the team with 16 hits for extra bases, including 11 doubles and three homeruns. Goldyn also had 19 RBI.

Buffalo State finished the season with a 26-14 overall record and earned the second seed in the SUNYAC Playoffs. Buffalo State defeated Cortland and Geneseo in the conference tournament, but dropped a pair of extra inning games to eventual-champion Oneonta, including a season-ending 1-0 loss in 16 innings.
