TERRE HAUTE, Ind.—The NCAA made its official selections for this weekend’s Division III Indoor Track & Field Championships today and announced that five Buffalo State student-athletes will be part of the field of 400.

Three women will represent Buffalo State at the national championship, looking to become the first female All-American (top-8 finishers in each event) in the program’s history. Junior Jenelle Orosz (N. Tonawanda/N. Tonawanda) will make her second appearance at the championships in the high jump, entering the meet ranked third in the nation with a school-record qualifying jump of 1.73 meters (5’ 8”). A pair of school record-setting freshman in Toya Edwards (Brooklyn/Clara Barton) and Candace Aaron (Coram/Longwood) will also compete. Edwards carries the ninth-best time into the 55-meter dash competition at 7.24, and Aaron is ranked 10th entering the 20-lb. weight throw at 16.25 meters (53’ 3 3/4”).

On the men’s side, transfers Willie Hordge (Buffalo/Forestbrook TX) and Mario Hicks (Corning/Corning West) will both compete in the NCAA Championships for the first time. Hordge qualified for the 55-meter dash with the second best time in the nation this season at 6.35, just .01 seconds behind the top-seeded time. Hicks will compete in the 55-meter hurdles, after recording the 11th fastest qualifying time of 7.65.

Buffalo State’s last track and field All-American was in 2005 when Richard Harris won the Outdoor National Championship in the 110-meter hurdles.

The meet will be held at the Sports and Recreation Center on the campus of Rose-Hullman Institute of Technology in Terre Haute, Ind. Prelims for each event will take place on Friday and the finals will be held on Saturday.
