Last week, October 15-16, art conservation students conducted an experimental iron smelt on the east lawn of Bacon Hall and brought a whole new meaning to the title "iron chef."

Using ancient technologies, including a hand bellows-operated forge and melting furnace, students and faculty proved how this process works as well today as it did ages ago.
