Food Pantry Receives Donations from Students on Giving Tuesday

Buffalo State’s Student Philanthropy Council (SPC) participated in Giving Tuesday, a global day dedicated to giving back. On Tuesday, December 2, charities, families, businesses, community centers, and students from around the world came together to support this new campaign.

SPC focused its efforts on Milligan’s, Buffalo State’s on-campus food pantry, and stocked its shelves with donations.

"This comes at time when the pantry is most needed," said Kim Jablonski, assistant director for mandated programs at Weigel Health Center. "It's the end of the semester and students' funds and meal cards are running extremely low."

Milligan’s food pantry was founded by staff from the Counseling Center and the campus Critical Incident Support Team to assist students in need. "The pantry provides a supportive and caring academic environment for our students with food insecurities," said Jablonski.

Students needing the pantry’s services should contact Jablonski at (716) 878-6711.

The SPC is a socially-minded group of students striving to build awareness about the importance of giving. To join or learn more, email buffalostatephilanthropy@mail.buffalostate.edu.
