BUFFALO, NY—Brian Wise racked up 240 all-purpose yards and two touchdowns to lead Brockport (5-5/4-1) past Buffalo State (3-6/1-4), 25-19, in the season finale I-90 Bowl today at Coyer Field, clinching at least a share of the Atlantic Central Football Conference Championship.

Buffalo State opened the scoring with a 15-play, 82-yard drive for a touchdown on its second possession. James Perkins capped the lengthy drive with a two-yard touchdown plunge. After a blocked extra point, the Bengals led 6-0.

Brockport responded early in the second quarter with a 14-play drive of its own that covered 63 yards and ended with a two-yard scoring run by Wise. A successful extra point gave the Golden Eagles a 7-6 lead.

Buffalo State assembled another steady drive on the ensuing possession and drove deep into Brockport territory. After back-to-back negative plays, the Bengals gambled on fourth and 17 from the Brockport 26-yard line and quarterback Mike Mikolaichik found Jonathan Allen in the corner of the end zone for a score. After a second blocked extra point, Buffalo State held a 12-7 lead that it would take into halftime.

Brockport drove into Buffalo State territory on its first possession of the second half, but the drive ended with a Brendan Thompson interception in the end zone of a Zack Luke pass. The Golden Eagles regained possession just two plays later on a fumbled exchange from center. Brockport capitalized three plays later on a four-yard touchdown run by Wise. Brockport extended its lead to 15-12 with a successful two-point conversion on a pass from Luke to Mike Mahoney.

A 29-yard field goal by Adam Lanctot on their next possession gave the Golden Eagles an 18-12 lead with 5:25 remaining in the third quarter. Brockport went up by two scores with 8:31 remaining in the game when a wide open Tim Lowe caught a 23-yard touchdown pass from holder AJ Covella on a fake field goal.

Buffalo State closed the gap to 25-19 with 1:25 remaining after Jeff Shostak took a Mikolaichik pass 24 yards for a score and Eric Buchanan kicked the extra point. Buffalo State failed to recovere the onside kick attempt, however, and Brockport was able to run out the clock.

Wise finished the game with 54 yards on 22 carries, 99 receiving yards on five catches, and 87 return yards. Luke was 12 for 26 for 196 yards with an interception. Dale Buck led the Brockport defense with 13 tackles, including three sacks and 4.5 tackles for loss. Joe Pereira added 12 stops, including two sacks.

Mikolaichik was 22 for 40 for 227 yards with two touchdowns and an interception. Dan McEntire was the leading receiver with eight catches for 66 yards. Cory Mabry led the defense with eight tackles, including six solo stops. Justin Draper had seven tackles and a sack.
