Football player Mike Potter (Allegany/Salamanca) has been named the Buffalo State Athlete of the Week.

In the Bengals' season finale at Brockport this past weekend, the senior defensive back recorded 11 tackles, six of which were solo stops. He also recorded an interception and was credited with a fumble recovery in team's 42-21 loss.

Potter's 10-yard interception return in the closing minutes of the first quarter put the ball on Brockport's 31-yard line and helped set up Buffalo State's first touchdown of the game which knotted the score at 7-7 with 13:38 left before the half. Potter's fumble recovery at the Bengal 26-yard line in the third quarter was his first of the season.

Potter finished the 2004 campaign ranked third on the team with 70 tackles, and his five interceptions were tops on the team. He closed out his four-year career with 158 stops.
