Foundation Chair's Recognition Awards
Buffalo State College Foundation chair Linda A. Dobmeier will acknowledge recipients of the 2011 Chair’s Recognition Award, Thursday, June 16, during the foundation’s annual meeting.
The Buffalo State College Foundation Board of Directors is proud to recognize the following outstanding supporters with this award:
Barnes & Noble at Buffalo State Bookstore for its generous and ongoing support to the university. Following a significant gift for capital improvements to the bookstore’s current location in the Campbell Student Union in 1999, the company was presented with the Buffalo State College Foundation Corporate Philanthropic Leadership Award. The bookstore has also been a consistent supporter of the All College Honors program by donating to the Golf and Tennis Classic and Scholarship Gala, while also assisting with other campus initiatives such as the Bengal 5K Run and Fun Walk and Project Flight.
Bruce Fox, photography and graphics coordinator at Buffalo State, for his outstanding support as a campus partner in providing photography and digital imaging services for university promotion. Fox is a constant presence at Buffalo State events with his work regularly appearing in campus publications and websites.
The Joseph R. Takats Foundation for its longstanding philanthropic commitment to Buffalo State students. In 1985, the foundation established the Hermina Takats Scholarship Fund in memory of Hermina A. Wagner Takats, ’66, ’71, a non-traditional student who decided to pursue her dream of becoming a teacher once her own children were grown. The scholarship fund provides support to students in the All College Honors program. The foundation has also supported Buffalo State endeavors such as the Parnes Noller Scholarship Fund, Mary Murdock Scholarship Fund, and BPAC Conservation Endowment.
Dorothy Pieniadz, ’45, as the alumni award recipient for her recent planned gift to establish the Dorothy Mierzwa Pienadz Endowed Scholarship Fund, which provides a scholarship annually to a Buffalo State undergraduate student who has been accepted into the teacher education program. One of the founders of Big Sisters of Rhode Island and the founder of the Rhode Island Polonia Scholarship Foundation, she retired in 1987 from Rhode Island College after 31 years as a faculty member and administrator.
