Fredonia Shoots Past Women’s Basketball, 69-52

FREDONIA, NY—Fredonia (12-9/8-6) shot 53-percent from the field as it defeated visiting Buffalo State (9-15/6-9), 69-52, tonight in a SUNYAC contest at Steele Hall.

The Blue Devils sprinted out of the gates, shooting 67-percent (16-of-24) in the opening half, and took a 36-17 lead into the intermission. Buffalo State shot just 6-of-30 (20-percent) in the opening 20 minutes, and scored just six points over the final 11:28. Buffalo State outscored Fredonia 35-33 in the second half, but never got closer than 14 points.

Darnika Moseley (Liverpool/Liverpool) led Buffalo State with 18 points and eight rebounds. Tawan Slaughter (Buffalo/Christian Central) scored 14 points and grabbed seven boards. Jacey Brooks (Machias/Franklinville), the conference’s leading scorer, was held to just five points on 1-of-12 shooting.

Freshman Danielle Bleecker led Fredonia with 23 points. Amanda Neamon recorded her fifth-consecutive double-double with 14 points and 11 rebounds.

Buffalo State will close out its regular season when it hosts Oswego on Saturday at 6 p.m.
