Fredonia Slips Past Men's Hockey, 2-1

BUFFALO, NY--Two powerplay goals in the second period were enough for Fredonia (10-7-2/4-2-2) to edge host Buffalo State (7-10-1/4-4-0), 2-1, tonight in a SUNYAC battle at the Ice Arena.

Buffalo State opened the scoring with a powerplay goal of its own just 2:35 into the contest on a quick wrist shot by Sean Burke (Barrie, ON/St. Peter's) from Greg Prybylski (Cheektowaga/Cheektowaga) and Sean O'Connell (Buffalo/St. Francis). The Blue Devils evened the score 2:41 into the second stanza and tallied the eventual game-winner 12:07 into the same frame. Matt Zeman (Rocky River, OH) notched the winner and added an assist on the opening goal by Jim Gilbride (Parma, OH). Evan DiValentino (Burlington, ON) picked up a pair of assists.

Fredonia outshot the Bengals 32-20. Sean Sheehan (Mt. Laurel, NJ/Lenape) made 30 saves for Buffalo State, and Rick Cazares (San Jose, CA) stopped 19 shots for the Blue Devils.

Buffalo State will host Oswego next Friday at 7 p.m.
