Fredonia Tops Women's Basketball, 59-45

BUFFALO, NY—Fredonia (11-8/6-5) scored 29 points off 29 Buffalo State (8-12/5-6) turnovers in a 59-45 road SUNYAC victory tonight at the Sports Arena.

Fredonia closed the opening half with a 10-2 run to take a 27-17 lead into the intermission. The Bengals never came closer the 10-points the rest of the way, as they were only able to connect on 31-percent of their shots from the field. The Blue Devils shot 36-percent from the field for the game.

Cheryl Kindzia (Williamsville/Williamsville North) led Fredonia with 15 points. Karolyn Baker (Olean/Olean) and Danielle Bleecker (Pittsford/Pittsford-Mendon) each scored 11 points, and Amanda Neamon (Arcade/Pioneer) added 10 points and 10 rebounds, and Heather Martin (Allegheny/Allegheny-Limestone) had a game-high seven assists.

Tawan Slaughter (Buffalo/Christian Central) and Jacey Brooks (Machias/Franklinville) each scored 13 points to lead Buffalo State. Amanda Benoit (Deerfield/Whitesboro) had 10 points and nine boards, and Darnika Moseley (Liverpool/Liverpool) grabbed 10 rebounds.

Buffalo State will host Brockport next Tuesday at 6 p.m.
