'The Front Yard' Turns On Forever, October 18

Share with...

The Front Yard is the world’s first permanent, environmentally-responsive, outdoor audio and image experience. On Friday, October 18, a trio of projection towers will illuminate the center's Elmwood-facing wall—forever.

Join the Burchfield Penney Art Center at 5:30 p.m. for a community street party celebrating the unveiling of this one-of-a-kind gallery experience. Festivities include a live musical performance by DME, led by J. Tomás Henriques.

Then at 6:28 p.m., the projectors will display the work of Brian Milbrand, whose work "Afterglow" will play the sunset. Captivating audio and visual works by a dynamic array of artists will be presented throughout the night, including Steina, Hollis Frampton, Paul Sharits, Meg Knowles and Chris Gallant, and Barbara Lattanzi and will continue through the month with works by John F. Bono, Dorothea Braemer, Andrew Deutsch, Courtney Grim, Carl Lee, Cort Lippe, Vince Mistretta, Jan Nagle, Rebekkah Palov, Anna Scime, John Toth, David Tudor, and J. T. Rinker, whose work will play the sunrise.

The opening of the Front Yard will mark the arrival of an ever-expanding collection of works to be unveiled in the weeks, months, and years that follow.
